When Hayley was 7 years old, she watched the medical staff working in the hospital newborn unit and longed to be on the other side of the glass. Years later, she received her RN and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Weber State University but started her career in adult care.
After a couple of years working with adults, Hayley jumped at an opportunity to work with kids and never looked back. In that time, she also earned an FNP from Frontier Nursing University in 2023. Somehow, she still finds time to run 10 miles most days.
Working in the hospital, Hayley got used to seeing patients only for a brief time; in the hospital, the best outcome is that your patients leave quickly and don’t come back. At UVP however, she gets to work with kids and parents throughout their lives and experience that growth alongside them.
Hayley knows that kids are the most important people in a parent’s life and their medical care is a sacred responsibility. She also knows that sometimes the “most difficult” kids are the ones who need the most love. She says that working with kids pulls out a creative side you don’t necessarily get to use with adults and, if you can reach a kid who needs help or connection, there’s no better feeling.
Except, maybe, the taste of good chocolate.
Hayley usually runs anywhere from 3 to 10 miles a day. She considers it her personal time and a great stress reliever.
