A Utah native, Nurse Erika Seaquist loves to travel and is passionate about her humanitarian work with Operation Smile. Twice a year she completes a humanitarian medical mission overseas. This year she’ll be visiting Africa.
Specializing in Pediatrics wasn’t her original plan in college, but now she couldn’t imagine working in any other specialty. As a child, she spent a lot of time in hospitals and doctor’s offices with her brother while he was treated for a rare childhood cancer. She says witnessing the excellent, compassionate care he received inspired her to go into the medical field.
A mother of four, Erika says parenting has helped her to recognize what she can do to help families feel important, informed and involved in their children’s care. She cites the relationships she forms with the families she meets as one of the best parts of her job.
While she enjoys the challenge of planning international travel logistics, Erika admits she’s a lousy gamer—especially when playing Halo.
Erika’s favorite foods are chips & salsa, chile verde, and fish tacos. She’s also using Rosetta Stone to improve her Spanish language skills.
